ISO Certification Requirements in UAE

ISO Certification Requirements in UAE

What are the requirements for ISO certification in the UAE?

To obtain an ISO certificate in the UAE, your organisation needs a management system that meets the requirements of your chosen ISO standard, together with the documented information that standard calls for. Certification is then carried out by an accredited certification body. UCS is a GAC and ASIB accredited certification body: we assess your management system against the standard and issue the certificate. Implementing the management system remains your organisation's responsibility.

ISO certification requirements checklist

Before you apply for certification, the following should be in place:

The exact documents depend on the standard you choose. Each ISO standard states the documented information it requires, and only that information is mandatory.

Documents commonly needed

  • Scope statement of the management system
  • Policy and objectives relevant to the standard
  • Procedures and records the standard and your organisation determine necessary
  • Internal audit records and management review minutes
  • Valid UAE trade licence

The ISO certification process

Once the requirements are in place, certification with UCS follows six steps:

  1. Application: submit your application to begin the certification process.
  2. Certification Agreement: a formal agreement is shared for your review and signature before the work begins.
  3. Stage 1 Audit: a review of your documentation and readiness against the applicable standard.
  4. Stage 1 Audit Report: findings, observations, and any recommended actions are shared with you.
  5. Stage 2 Audit: an assessment of how effectively your management system is implemented and whether it conforms to the standard.
  6. Final Report and Certification: a full report is issued and, once any nonconformities are addressed, the certificate is granted.

Most eligible businesses in the UAE complete certification in 7 to 10 working days once their management system is ready, and you can get a free quote within 3 to 4 hours.

Which ISO standard do you need?

The requirements you must meet depend on the standard that fits your business. Common choices in the UAE include ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems), ISO 14001:2026 (Environmental Management Systems), ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems), and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 (Information Security Management Systems).
