Dubai Context
Why Dubai Businesses Need ISO Certification
Dubai Government & DED Tenders
ISO 9001:2015 is required for most Dubai government procurement, Roads & Transport Authority contracts, and DED-licensed business supplier qualifications under Dubai's D33 economic agenda.
Free Zone Requirements — JAFZA, DMCC & More
Companies in JAFZA, DMCC, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and DAFZ are frequently required to hold ISO certification by their clients and partners as part of supplier pre-qualification processes.
DIFC & Financial Services Compliance
DIFC-regulated firms and financial services businesses in Dubai increasingly reference ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 as part of DFSA technology risk and operational resilience requirements.
International Export & Supply Chains
Dubai businesses exporting to EU, GCC, and Asian markets are required to demonstrate ISO certification — particularly ISO 9001, ISO 22000, and ISO 14001 — as part of importer qualification processes.

Certification Agreement
A formal certification agreement is shared outlining the scope, audit schedule, fees, and timeline.
Stage 1 Audit
A documentation review audit at your Dubai premises to assess your management system readiness against the ISO standard.
Stage 1 Report
A detailed findings report shared with your team, with guidance on any gaps to address before Stage 2.
Stage 2 Audit
An on-site implementation audit to verify your management system is fully deployed and effective across your organisation.
Certificate Issued
Your ISO certificate is issued and valid for 3 years, subject to annual surveillance audits to maintain certification.
Documentation Review Audit
The Stage 1 audit takes place at your Dubai premises and is a documentation review audit. The purpose is to confirm that your organisation is ready for the certification audit.
During the Stage 1 audit, the auditor will review your internal audit reports and management review process. Certification may not be issued until there is sufficient evidence that arrangements for management reviews and internal audits have been implemented, are effective, and are well maintained.
Full Conformity Audit
The Stage 2 audit confirms that your management system fully conforms to the requirements of the chosen ISO standard in practice. During this audit, the auditor will:
- Document how the system complies with the standard using objective evidence
- Undertake sample audits of the processes and activities in your certification scope
- Visit any additional Dubai locations or sites included in the certification scope
- Report any non-conformities or opportunities for improvement
- Agree a date for the first annual surveillance visit
Note: If the auditor identifies any major non-conformity, certification cannot be issued until corrective action is taken and verified. Accreditation requirements stipulate this must be completed within 6 months.
Surveillance Audits — Maintaining Your Certification
Once certification is obtained, your certificate is valid for 3 years — subject to the successful completion of annual surveillance audits. A full re-certification audit is conducted every 3 years.
Surveillance audits are conducted annually to ensure compliance with the chosen standard is maintained throughout the three-year certification cycle. During surveillance, you must demonstrate continual improvement — a fundamental requirement of all ISO standards.
