تحدد الأيزو 29993:2017 متطلبات خدمات التعلم خارج التعليم الرسمي ، بما في ذلك جميع أنواع التعلم مدى الحياة (مثل التدريب المهني والتدريب داخل الشركة ، سواء بالاستعانة بمصادر خارجية أو داخليًا). تشمل هذه الخدمات أي خدمات تعليمية يقدمها مزود خدمة التعلم (LSP) والموجهة للمتعلمين أنفسهم ، وكذلك إلى الرعاة الذين يحصلون على الخدمات نيابة عن المتعلمين. السمات الرئيسية لهذه الأنواع من الخدمات هي تحديد أهداف التعلم وتقييم الخدمات ، وأنها تنطوي على التفاعل مع المتعلم. يمكن أن يكون التعلم وجهاً لوجه ، بوساطة التكنولوجيا ، أو مزيج من الاثنين معًا.
